LITTLE ROCK (5-12)
The event will take place on top of the new southbound Highway 100
railroad overpass – located in northwest Maumelle just south of the old
WHY:The new Highway 100 railroad overpass is a $7.4 million project that eliminates a high volume “at grade” crossing at one of only two entrances to Maumelle. The new overpass not only eliminates potential train-vehicle accidents, but it can also mean the difference in reaching an emergency at the elementary school or even ambulance service saving someone’s life. Approximately 15,000 vehicles a day use Highway 100 at this location and about 20-24 trains pass these tracks daily.
