LITTLE ROCK (2-13)

Crews working on the I-430/I-630 Interchange improvements project in Little Rock will continue with lane closures next week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., the inside northbound lane of I-430 between Shackleford Road and Breckenridge Drive will be closed for several months. This means that I-430 northbound, like the southbound lanes, will only have two travel lanes open during that time period. This will allow crews to construct new permanent lanes in the median area.  Crews will be placing concrete median barriers in the area and installing overhead signs, guardrails and constructing the connector ramp at the Hermitage and Shackleford intersection.

Overnight lane closures will occur next week (Feb. 16-20) on both the westbound and eastbound lanes of I-630 in the interchange area to install median barriers. These closures will be in place each night from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Message boards will  alert motorists to construction activity. As always, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
